SOLSTICE
Solstice & Soledad:
Light in the Heart of Stillness
I chose the name Solstice for my acupuncture practice because it captures the heart of what healing truly is: transformation through stillness. At its core, solstice comes from the Latin solstitium — sol meaning “sun” and stitium meaning “to stand still.” Mystically, this “standing still” of the sun marks a potent moment of pause,
reflection, and energetic shift in the great wheel of the year.
These aren’t just astronomical events; they are energetic thresholds.
Winter Solstice (the longest night) is a time of rebirth and renewal. It’s the “dark night of the soul” — a descent into shadow with the promise of returning light. Ancient cultures honored this as the death of the old sun and the birth of the new, a sacred space for intention-setting, healing, and insight.
Summer Solstice (the longest day) is a celebration of light, abundance, and peak energy. It reflects the height of life force and consciousness — a time for manifestation, gratitude, and alignment with your fullest expression. Just as the sun “stands still” during a solstice, acupuncture creates a pause in the body —
an invitation to honor the calling of our souls. In this mystical sense, acupuncture helps us meet our own solstices — those quiet, internal moments where our energy stands still, teetering between who we’ve been and who we’re becoming.
The name Solstice also echoes my own name — Soledad. In Spanish, it means “solitude,”. It carries a kind of spiritual stillness — a presence, a surrender, a holy silence. Not emptiness, but depth. A sacred quiet where truth rises to the surface. In that way, Soledad feels like the inner solstice — that moment of stillness before the turning, the pause before the transformation. It’s from this place that I hold space for others: with gentleness, with presence, and with the belief that healing begins in the quiet.
Solstice speaks to the natural cycles we all move through — of seasons, emotions, healing, and growth. In my practice, I honor where each person is in their own cycle. Whether you’re in a season of inward reflection or outward expansion, acupuncture supports the turning points, the subtle shifts, and the thresholds of becoming.
The name Solstice is a reminder:
That healing is not linear.
That light always returns.
That in stillness, transformation lives.
